All of my work is based on my responses to social conditions – what I see around me. A few years ago I started working with concrete because of a fascination with the way that nature creeps or forces it way through it. That resulted in some pieces showing various facets of Brighton Marina. Now I am working on `Habitations’, a series of mixed media pieces showing images of homes I have observed, or collaged from my observations. These pieces concern the built environment and its effect on nature; the human desire for nature and the search for `alternative’ habitations; and the ambiguity of our feelings towards, and experiences of, the natural world.
